Title of the Work: Sevilla en la Piel (Seville on the Skin)
Artistic Concept / Description:
"Sevilla en la Piel" is a conceptual artwork created as a heartfelt tribute to the cultural, historical, and spiritual richness of the city of Seville and the art of flamenco. The composition transforms the female body into a living canvas where Andalusian tradition, faith, and architectural majesty converge.
Front and Chest: The torso emulates the elegance of a traditional Manila shawl (mantón de Manila). Standing prominently at the center is the Giralda. The composition is framed with golden filigree and vivid shades of red and blue, accented by delicate touches of glitter that bring light, motion, and flamenco dynamism to the piece.
Back: The back reveals a detailed representation of the Cathedral of Seville, crowned by the fluid architecture of the shawl design. On the lower back, emerging with devotion and mysticism, is the figure of the Virgin of Luján, framed in golden and violet glows.
Legs and Limbs: Inspired by rich Hispano-Muslim heritage, the leg design incorporates intricate ornamental patterns in lapis lazuli blue and gold, evoking the beauty of traditional tiles (azulejos) and mosaics that adorn Seville’s historic palaces and corners.
The styling is complemented by iconic Andalusian elements, such as the hair flower, castanets, and traditional Sevillian shawls, brought to life through the performance of our model, a professional flamenco dancer.
